Walking In God’s Word

  • To walk in God’s word gives us the power, authority and authorization by our advocate (Jesus Christ) to use the word to transform things from the things that they are not into the things we desire by faith.

Matthew 14:26-29

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

  • To better understand walking in God’s word we must first understand what the word is to us. The word is our stability; it is what we can put our trust in.

John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Matthew 7:24-27

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

  • Walking in the word of God can be difficult when we cannot see the way out. The way that we show our love and trust to God is how that we walk on and trust Him (even when we cannot see the outcome).

2 Corinthians 5:7

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Psalm 37:5

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

  • It is God’s will for you to walk by faith into the things that you do not understand to get peace over. It is God’s will for you to prosper and not be poor. It is God’s will for you to be healed and not sick. It is God’s will for you to love and not despise others. But when we are poor, sick or despised our willpower is little and unwilling. Rest assured that in these times God has come (by the Holy Spirit) to help us get up and keep walking.

Psalm 37:23-24

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

  • We keep our bodies under subjection to the spirit it makes us walk on in God’s word. When we do not we stray to our own will and become lost in God’s plan for our lives.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

From Profession To Perfection

1 John 2:6

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Profession – “He that saith he abideth in him”

  • early stages of our Christian walk
  • zealous, unafraid, unashamed, excited to tell
  • giving testimony to our faith, sharing our story, being a witness

At this stage Satan comes to destroy your thoughts and words that you lose all good things to say about God. Your testimony, encouragement and exhortation will be every now and then if ever.

People in this stage are having to fight against obsession and possession and into growing their confidence in salvation.

Progression – “Ought himself also so to walk”

  • taking profession and getting on the move, taking action
  • when our walk begins to confirm our talk
  • this is the beginnings of true sincerity and sacrifice to God

At this stage Satan comes to take your time, energy and willingness so that you lose all desire to continue and obey or taking action for the glory of the kingdom of God.

People in this stage are are rebuking possible infestation and vexation and growing in their faith by their actions and profession.

Perfection – “Even as he walked”

  • starting to stop choosing life to go our way and submitting to God’s will
  • leaving childish things behind, growing up, moving on, maturing (or perfecting)
  • removing yourself from situations, actions and words that would destroy what you do
  • stepping into the pleasing favor of God and beginning to see miracles and wonders happen

At this stage Satan begins to attack all that is important to you: family, friends, jobs, possessions, and everything else important to us.

People in this stage are beginning to exorcise their flesh and starting to find balance in life, hope, happiness and devotion to God.

As we pass from Profession to Progression and from Progression to Perfection you can begin to identify where you are in God’s will based on the sorts of things you are enduring.

To walk is to be propelled into forward motion. We must be in constant motion in our walk with God. We must learn to walk again. How? With God and the attributes that when within us will make us a blessed set of individuals.

We must learn to walk:

In the spirit – Galatians 5:16

[16] This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

In the newness of life – Romans 6:4

[4] Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

By faith – II Corinthians 5:7

[7] (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Worthy – Colossians 1:10

[10] That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Circumspectly – Ephesians 5:15

[15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

In love – Ephesians 5:2

[2] And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

In light – Ephesians 5:8

[8] For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Attention: Now Accepting Applications For Spiritual Leaders

I first would like to clarify in a very silly way that this is in no way directed towards Heart of Grace Ministries actually taking applications. I am writing this today for what I feel God is leading me to give some direction on about spiritual leadership.

When it comes to the everyday hometown spiritual leaders, most of them have put in many wonderful years of service. The examples of people that I have had the privilege to meet and know has blessed me and helped me beyond words I could explain today. The part that alarms me is that how we are starting to not match up or miss with the word of God. All through the times you read in the scriptures the anointing and wisdom of the older generations was written and passed down, purposed for the up and coming seed that was growing to be the new leaders after them. There were multiple cases of this you can study to, and how the ministries and works only multiplied!

Today I am striving with all that is within me to be a spiritual leader and to use what had been passed down to me. I cannot say that when I received all of the wisdom that I saw myself as ‘ready’, but God sure did! Even at a younger age God has already given me a work and a purpose. If I were to waiver or give up on this purpose, I would not only be hindering the work God had intended for me but the works that were passed down to me!

So as God leads you each and every day, learn to take in each and every good work and wisdom from your elders. Give respect and honor and understand their purpose to better help you find yours! God is surely looking for those of us in the current generation to begin to rise as the new and next leaders of God! How do we apply? Prayer and continual seeking before Him! Finding your calling is the easy part (just like your dream job), but sticking with it with dedicated passion and purpose will prove you as a leader to others and a follower of Christ!
