Sermon: “Submissive vs. Permissive Will of God” – Stanfield Church of God

Jared’s Commentary:

1) We are often eager to listen to what god says until it’s not what we want to hear; it’s then where instead of the submissive will of god we follow we seek for our own outcome, want gods forgiveness and desire the permissive will of god

2) How many things have we been spared from yet not even really acknowledging it was god? Reminds me of this moment where a donkey miraculously avoids the angel with the sword that balaam could not see. And if that were not enough, balaam not only does not see it but instead strikes the donkey in anger. He was worried about how funny he looked.

3) Sometimes god is trying to lead us from harm – but we are not discerning of it and are trying to preserve our reputations in other ways and miss the miraculous going on in our lives.

4) The donkey speaks! Wow! And rather than seeing god in this with immediate awe balaam argues back. How silly! Yet do we not often argue back at gods plan rather than seeing him in it?

5) Finally, after he sees the angel that had been revealed by the animal we find he finally repents

6) God is working in us continually and will send the miraculous to bend our paths. If we will only learn to see god in all things more clearly we can be sure to perform gods will and not our own.

7) When seeking god follow what you hear and do not rebel against it because it is not what you want. Avoid further troubles by yielding to his instruction. Resist the enemies temptations and hold your ground!

8) Before you head too far God wants to spare you from many troubles. Don’t wait until the donkey has to get your attention!!!

The Lord is my Shepherd
He goes before me
Defender behind me
I won’t fear
I’m filled with anointing
My cup’s overflowing
No weapon can harm me
I won’t fear
Hallelujah, I am not alone
He’s my Comfort,
Always holds me close
He always guides me
Through mountains and valleys
His joy is refreshing
Restores my soul
Mercy and goodness
Give me assurance
That I’ll see His glory Face to face
Hallelujah, I am not alone
He’s my Comfort,
Always holds me close
Hallelujah, I am not alone
He’s my Comfort,
Always holds me close
Your Spirit lives within me
So I will walk in Your peace
Your Spirit lives within me
My victory, My victory
Your Spirit lives within me
So I will walk in Your peace
Your Spirit lives within me
My victory, My victory
Your Spirit lives within me
So I will walk in Your peace
Your Spirit lives within me
My victory, My victory
Your Spirit lives within me
So I will walk in Your peace
Your Spirit lives within me
My victory, My victory
My victory
My victory
My victory
My victory
My victory
My victory
My victory
Hallelujah, I am not alone

Video: Singing “No Longer A Slave” Live @ Stanfield Church of God

https://youtu.be/g7Mq6NpDKqw

You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
From my mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again, into a family
Your blood flows through my veins
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I am surrounded
By the arms of the father
I am surrounded
By songs of deliverance
We’ve been liberated
From our bondage
Were the sons and the daughters
Let us sing our freedom
You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
My fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me
And I will stand and sing
I am the child of God
You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
You drowned my fears in perfect love
You rescued me
And I will stand and sing
I am the child of God (yes I am)
I am a Child of God
I am a Child of God (yes I am)
I am a Child of God (full of faith yes)
I am a Child of God
I am a Child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

Video: Singing “He Set Me Free” Live @ Stanfield Church of God (w/ Sister Rosie)

Once like a bird in prison I dwelt,
No freedom from my sorrow I felt.
But Jesus came and listened to me,
And, glory to God, He set me free.

He set me free, He set me free.
He broke the bonds of prison for me;
I’m glorybound my Jesus to see,
For glory to God, He set me free.

Now I am climbing higher each day,
Darkness of night has drifted away.
My feet are planted on higher ground,
And glory to God, I’m homeward bound.

Goodbye to sin and things that confound,
Naught of this world shall turn me around.
Daily I’m working, I’m praying, too,
And glory to God, I’m going through.

Video: Singing “I Am” Live @ Stanfield Church of God

I am the lord, I’m the almighty god
I am the one for whom nothing is too hard
I am the shepherd and I am the door
I am the good news to the bound and the poor
I am, I am
I am, I am
I am the righteous one and I am the lamb
I am the ram in the bush for abraham
I am the ultimate sacrifice for sin
I am your redeemer, the beginning and the end
I am, I am
I am, I am
I am jehovah (choir sings)
And I am the king
I am messiah, david’s offspring
I am your high priest and I am the christ
I am the resurrection, I am the light
I am, I am
I am, I am
I am the bread and I am the wine (2nd time, choir sings)
I am your future so leave your past behind
I am the one in the midst of two or three
I am your tabernacle, I am your jubilee (2nd time, choir sings)
I am, I am
I am, I am
I am hope, I am peace, I am joy, I am rest
I am your comfort and relief from your stress
I am strength, I am faith, I am love, I am power
I am your freedom this very hour!
You’re my hope, you’re my peace, you’re my joy, you’re my rest
You are my comfort,
You’re relief from my stress
You’re my strength, you’re my faith, you’re my love, you’re my power
You are my freedom this very hour!

Video: Singing “I Am Redeemed” Live @ Stanfield Church of God

I am redeemed, bought with a price,
Jesus has changed my whole life.
If anybody asks you, just who I am,
tell them I am redeemed.
Where there is hat, love now abides,
where there was confusion, peace now reigns.
I’m a child, child of the King,
it’s all because I am redeemed.
I am redeemed, bought with a price,
Jesus has changed my whole life.
If anybody asks you, just who I am,
tell them I am redeemed.
I’ll tell of His favor, I’ll tell of His love,
I’ll tell of His goodness to me.
He purchased my redemption with His own precious blood,
and from sin I’ve been set free.
I am redeemed, bought with a price,
Jesus has changed my whole life.
If anybody asks you, just who I am,
tell them I am redeemed.
There’s no shackles on me, I’m as free as I can be;
because Jesus changed my life.
He died up on the cross,
that’s why I can tell the world that I am redeemed.
I am redeemed, bought with a price,
Jesus has changed my whole life.
If anybody asks you, just who I am,
tell them I am redeemed.
If you run across anybody that used to know me,
tell them I’m doing fine.
The last time that you saw me,
I was lifting up holy hands,
I’ll tell them I’ve been redeemed.
I am redeemed, bought with a price,
Jesus has changed my whole life.
If anybody asks you, just who I am,
tell them I am redeemed.

Video: Singing “Worthy Is The Lamb” Live @ Stanfield Church of God

Thank you for the cross, Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace
Thank you for this love, Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace
Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
Thank you for the cross, Lord (thank you)
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace
Thank you for this love, Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace
Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

Video: Singing “Why Should I Worry” Live at Braden’s Chapel Baptist Church

https://youtu.be/ARM6WdmYjB8

Out on the water, the storms raging high.
The waters around them, they were troubled that night.
Fear filled their hearts,
they felt they would de but they
failed to remember that the master was nigh.
Then he spoke the words and the winds all stood still.
You see even the waters, they obeyed his will.
Now he calmed their storms just like he will
mine if I just remember, he lives deep inside.
So why should I worry?
why should I fear?
When the very same Jesus, he is always so near.
He lives in my heart and he hears when I cry,
I’ll call on his name till the storm passes by.
We read in the bible when he walked with them,
brought light to the darkness when the way grew dim.
How great it would be to have his footsteps in mine and walk with the
master all of the time and when trials come and
death seems so nigh, I’ll just call on the master.
I know he’ll get there on time and when sickness comes
and my body’s in pain, all I have to do is call on his name.
So why should I worry?
why should I fear?
When the every same Jesus, he is always so near.
He lives in my heart and he hears when I cry,
I’ll call on his name till the storm passes by.
Just call on his name till the storm passes by

Video: Singing “When I Get Home” Live at Braden’s Chapel Baptist Church

https://youtu.be/3LhTdl5DZVc

Since I’ve heard about a better home,
I would leave this old world and all it’s own,
Just slip away most any day to heavens shore,
I’ll find sweet rest beyond the gate forever more.

When I move up there to settle down,
When I step inside the gate to look around,
I want at least a million years to view the throne,
So many friends I want to see when I get home.

Oh Lord hear my prayer before I leave,
May I live so my friends will follow me,
The little ones you gave to me while here below,
I’d love to meet each one of them when I get home.

Yes I’ll reach home,
Oh praise the Lord,
Some sweet day,
When I walk up that great milky way,
Goodbye old world,
Good morning there,
Before the throne,
What a singing there will be when I get home.
