John 7:37-39
[37] In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
[38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
[39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
A river reaches places where it source never knows. If we have received His fullness than the rivers will flow out of us, reaching in blessing even to the ends of the earth. Hence Acts 1:8:
Acts 1:8
[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
There may be objects or obstacles that may attempt to prevent the flow, or your continual relationship to God. The river of the spirit of God overcomes all obstacles. We never need to focus on the obstacles nor the difficulty.
John 4:10-14
[10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
[11] The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
[12] Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
[13] Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
[14] But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
‘By this living water’ is meant to represent the spirit of God. Jesus showed that Jacobs well yielded a very short satisfaction. Whatever that we consume in life will prove itself unable to satisfy our lives. Carnal hearts look no higher than carnal means. If we learn to start partaking of the spirit of grace and the comforts of the gospel we shall not be in want of that which will only satisfy temporarily. Allow nothing to keep you from your sovereign source!
